Gupta Empire, Kumaragupta, c. 415-455, AV dinar, 7.81 g. (18 mm). Obverse: ‘archer’ type, king standing left, holding a longbow by the middle pointed towards him, Garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend in right field, Kumara. Reverse: Lakshmi with halo sitting on seven-petaled lotus, holding diadem and lotus flower, Brahmi legend right. Kumar TOTGE 2024, Class II, variety F.
VF, cut on the edge, possibly from the strike, has raised overlapping gold on the lip of the cut. No evidence of filing.
The archer type of Kumaragupta comes in several distinct types, this one with the king holding the bow turned towards him.
