Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.83 g. (19 mm). Obverse: ‘chhatra’ type; king standing left, sacrificing on a fire (or dropping incense), attendant at right holding parasol over the king with right leg up, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: Lakshmi, standing facing, holding long-stemmed lotus flower in her left hand, and diadem in right, with tamgha to left and Brahmi legend to right, Vikramaditya. Kumar TOTGE 2024, Class I.
VF with good surfaces and extremely well-defined details.
A very well-struck and detailed example of the very rare parasol type that was introduced by King Chandragupta.
