Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.75 g. (20 mm). Obverse: ‘archer’ type; king standing looking right, holding an Indian longbow in left hand and an arrow in right, Garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend right of bow, Chandra. Reverse: Lakshmi enthroned on lotus flower, holding diadem and lotus blossom, Brahmi legend at right, Sri Vikkrimah, tamgha left, dotted border around. Kumar TOTGE 2024, Class III, variety F, rare.
VF, reasonably well-defined details, nice surfaces.
A finely-detailed and rare type, with the king looking to the right instead of the usual left, and holding the bow facing him, with the Brahmi legend moved to the right of the bow. No similar coin is listed on Coinarchives.
