Gupta Empire, Chandragupta II, c. 380-413, AV dinar, 7.71 g. (20 mm). Obverse: ‘lion slayer’ type; king standing left, holding bow and arrow and looking at lion walking away from king, circular Brahmi legend around. Reverse: Lakshmi, facing, sitting on lion walking right, holding long-stemmed lotus flower in her left hand, and diadem in right, with tamgha to left and Brahmi legend to right, Simhavikrama. Kumar TOTGE 2024, variety B.
VF+, reasonably well-defined details and good surfaces, some lustre shows through.
The very rare type of the lion retreating. Only one similar coin found on Coinarchives.
