Kushanas, Shaka, c. mid-4th century, AV dinar, 7.74 g. (19 mm). Obverse: Shaka, standing facing, head with halo left, wearing conical decorated hat, sacrificing over altar and holding staff, trident with ribbons to left, with Brahmi inscription Shaka at right, and an undetermined letter under the king’s arm. Reverse: Ardoksho enthroned, facing, holding garland and cornucopia, tamgha left.
About EF, underlying lustre shows through, well-defined features.
This type has an unidentifiable Brahmi letter below the king’s arm and does not correspond to any of the recorded types we have seen.
