Description
Kushanas, Kipanadha, c. 335-350, AV dinar, 7.64 g. (19 mm). Obverse: king, standing facing, head with halo left, wearing conical decorated hat, sacrificing over altar and holding staff, trident with ribbons to left, with Brahmi inscription Kipanadha or Shkinatha at right, and bhadra under the king’s arm. Reverse: Ardoksho enthroned, facing, holding garland and cornucopia, tamgha left. About VF, light die crack on both sides at 11 o’clock and 10 o’clock. The identification of the king’s name is not definitive on this coin, but appears to be either Kipanadha or Shkinatha. The Bactrian legend on these late Kushan coins became increasingly corrupted and indecipherable.Ex Chand Collection 1.8.10 Catalogue
