Description

A blue and white porcelain “Klapmuts” bowl, Qing dynasty, Kangxi period (1662-1722). Diameter: 21 cm. Apocryphal six-character Ming mark in underglaze blue within a double circle to the base. The “Klapmuts” style, characterized by its flattened rim, was primarily produced for the European export market, particularly the Dutch, as its shape was well-suited for serving thick broths. This piece originates from the collection of the London dealer Geoffrey Waters, according to the label preserved under the base. Sold with a separate stand, as is.
