Description

1859 1/2 Gr. plate I, orange (arancio) pair and single 5Gr. plate I, red brown (rosso brunasto), all on 1859 outer letter sheet from Palermo to Girgenti, first stamp with small tear at top, fine and fresh, a wonderful and attractive usage of the 6 Grana franking paying the uncommon 3/4 ounce domestic rate.

Correction to printed catalogue: 1/2gr is arancio shade on Napoli paper, and 5gr is rosso brunasto shade (scarcer shade)
