Description

1840 1d Black, Plate 1b, horizontal strip of four DG–DJ. Fresh, good to very large margins, minor lower-margin scissor cuts clear of design. Paying quadruple rate (2 oz., originally containing several bills of lading) on entire letter sent from Newport to Cwm Celyn Iron Works. Red Maltese Crosses tying stamps; Newport OC 4 1840 cds on reverse. Cover with minor closed split at foot, away from stamps. A rare multiple use sent within Wales.

Correction to printed catalogue: No BPA certificate.
