1896 Athens, collection of postcards incl. 4 of the stadium, 2 of the Zappeion, four of events during the Games (horizontal bars, parallel bars, cycling and fencing), four of participants (incl. Spiridon Louis), 11 postcards/photo cards of notable people who contributed to the Games incl. King George I, George Averoff, Demetrius Vikelas (first president of the IOC, incl. postcard written by him), D. Sakorrafos (“father of the idea of the issue of postage stamps for the Frist Olympic Games”), and several items relating to Albert Meyer who was a significant photographer at the Games (incl. photocard showing the wrestling finalists and a photocard portrait signed by him with original wrapper).
