1840 (4 Aug) Lettersheet to Cottbus Prussia, bearing 1840 2d blue pl.1 pair CA-CB and single lettered CD each neatly cancelled and tied by superb strikes of the red Maltese cross, the pair additionally tied by A straight line HAMBURG 8 AUG H.S in black and showing a “MACDUFF PENNY POST” hand stamp alongside, the front endorsed 10 3/4 in red manuscript, the reverse showing Hull Ship Letter in red; the single 2d has been excised and re-attached, though not detracting from the fine appearance of this extremely rare usage, a major exhibition rarity; cert.
