1840 1d. Black Pl 5, OA-PB block of four (OA, OB and PA being State 2, first repair), just clear to large margins, on neat entire from Maidstone to Ashford, dated 7 November 1841 tied by light strikes of the black Maltese Cross; a few minor imperfections, the block possibly removed and replaced and showing traces of reduced staining though otherwise fine. A very rare and most attractive block used on cover; cert. RPS (2012); ex Sugden (1951), Meroni (1952)and “Victoriana” (2007).
