Brazil: 1866-1878, an extraordinary selection of 15 covers with some remarkable rarities of these issues, including 1866 100r type IV, die III, single on front and block of four on back of envelope to Italy (the largest block recorded on cover, with just two known); 1876 80r block of four and single on inland cover paying the double registered rate (the largest used multiple, unique on cover, ex Comelli and Alemany); both items are listed under “Peças Speciais” (special items) by Paolo Comelli in the “Mosaico” magazine; 1866 100r with very rare “cracked plate” variety, 1866 200r single on cover carried by the rare Brazilian “Cia Navegaçao Goitacaz” navigation company, two three-colour frankings of which one on envelope to England featuring 1866 20r & 50r combined with 1876 100r (3), the other with 1866 500r and 1876 100r & 200r, as well as 1877 20r pair on newspaper and various covers bearing frankings including the 1878 “Auriverde” 300r.
