1859 Britannia (1d) rose red rough perf.14-16 1/2, two examples in reconstructed vertical pair with Perkins Bacon “CANCELLED” oval handstamp, presented by the printers to Ormond Hill (the nephew of Sir Rowland Hill) for members of his family, trimmed from the sheet at left and foot with design just clear, top stamp with tone spot, lower stamp with small scuff and pre-printing crease, very rare, from pos.1 and 4 out of the block of six cancelled as such, one of which is in the Royal Collection; pos. 1 ex Jaffé, pos. 4 ex Latto and Hurlock (S.G. £18’000).
