1958 (27 Aug) New Zealand, 30th anniversary of Kingsford Smith’s First Tasman Flight, large preliminary hand-painted artwork in watercolour showing Kingsford Smith, a modern airliner and the “Southern Cross”, framed by simulated perforations, drawn by J.E. Lyle. Mounted to plate board and lettered B, measuring 23 x 15 cm; an impressive artist’s drawing and a key item for a NZ/Australian airmail exhibit. Ex J.E. Lyle and illustrated in PSNZ vol. IV, p. 258.
