1979, Exhibition collection ‘The 1979 Irish Post office Strike’, exhibited internationally and nationally, a very comprehensive collection on 57 pages incl. also some pages on the 1971 strike + some additional material (newspaper clip, reports, articles), the emphasis lies on the documentation through commercial mail, one chapter deals also with the private delivery companies with philatelic influence, the commercial mail part includes also the provisional use of Irish definitives in lack of postage dues in the aftermath of this gigantic & probably worldwide unique strike taking the enormous length of around 5 months in account. Also, one has to bear in mind that most of these strike covers simply ended up in the waste basket. We do not recall ever having seen a similar collection on this massive strike event.
