Description

1818 (August 27th) letter sent by James Crawley to James Healey from Dublin to Dundalk, regarding signature of receipt showing a “DUNDALK / 40” mileage mark and rated “6”, subsequently deleted by a the very rare Dundalk “REFUSED” hs, the letter was rerated “1/-“, was returned to the sender, “For James Crawley / of / Allardston”, an important postal history rarity. One of only two usages of the Dundalk REFUSED handstamp so far recorded.
