1746 (November 6th) Folded letter sheet, rated “11d” (1d ship rate + 4d Derry to Dublin + 6d combined rate) from Apoquinimick to the SPG in London, landed in Ireland, showing a Derry “SHIP” handstamp, and below a diminutive “DERRY” provincial town name stamp, a wonderful example of the early use of this Ship mkg, a wonderful exhibition showpiece. The earliest recorded usage of this Derry SHIP handstamp.Auction
