1829-1950s, Slave Island 5-frame exhibit collection, the early period includes 1829 (front) and 1842 ‘Colombo Post Free’ handstamps on cover, 1844 ‘Colombo Post Paid’ to London, 1d blue imperforate to Colombo (ex Hackmey) and to the Galle Face Hotel. Numerous Postal Stationery cards and covers follow (with a few QV covers) for Inland Domestic mail, then for Foreign Mail to Europe with an excellent range of Ed VII and GV Postcards. GVI includes Airmails and WWII Censored with a wide variety of routes and destinations throughout. An outstanding collection, focussing as it does on this very specific and fascinating area.
