Lot 10562 – Mexico 7c engraved used, Ex Bartels, Houtzamer

ONE OF THE MOST RARE STAMPS OF CLASSIC MEXICO NOT OFFERED IN AUCTION IN MANY YEARSMexico 7c lilac engraved used (consignment #3-1867, 400 issued in this consignment), close to very large margins, partial cancel, thinned and creased, of little consequence for this stamp which is found with imperfections. Only eight used are known, with just six in private hands (two of which the collector states to be in museums). One of the most rare and legendary stamps of classic Mexican philately and one of thre greatest rarities of this issue. No examples have been offered at auction in many years.
