Description

1840 ca. Folded cover from Mérida to Havana (Cuba), handstruck on dispatch with framed “Merida/Mayo 1” datestamp and “Franco.” straight line, displaying arrival postmarks with small “Indias” straight line and “10” with additional “rs. pags.” In manuscript (10 Reales paid). Typical ageing found on Cuban mail, and portions of paper lacking on reverse. One of just five stampless covers recorded with this very rare “Indias” postmark.
