Description
1843, 60r black, intermediate impression, large even margins, showing “S.JOZE” double-framed hs (unlisted in Ayres) from the Province of Sao Paulo and struck in purple, combined with “black “Correio Geral Da Corte” cds. One of four first-issue stamps recorded with this postmark, with its desirability being augmented by the usage of two postmarks in the rarely encountered purple colour.
