Lot 20144 – 1861 Veracruz 8 Reales Green on Brown + 2 Reales Rose on cover

Veracruz 8r green on brown, a large margined example with 2r rose, just touched in places, both used on April 13, 1864 entire letter to Mexico City. A very desirable exhibition item as no more than twenty covers are known exhibiting this 8r stamp. Cert Mepsi (2001). Scott $1,000 as single on cover.

Note: This 8r stamp was issued in parallel with the 8r black on Brown, but it was sent to a small number of large districts at first, and later to a few others.
