Description
Guadalajara 8r lilac, bisect represented in horizontal half with clear margins, used as 4 reales on September 3, 1860 cover from Guadalajara to Zapotlán, tied by pen stroke. A very rare split as it paid the double rate. Only eight bisects of the 8 reales are recorded in the 1972 Census, this being unique with a pen cancellation. Scott $900. Catalogue ref: Scott 5e
