Lot 20043 – 1856 Zacatecas 8 Reales Lilac Quadrisect in combination with 1 Real Yellow on front

Zacatecas 8r lilac quadrisect, used in conjunction with with 1r yellow (cut slightly into at right) on cover front to Mexico City. Combinations of splits with full stamps or other splits are very rare. A very difficult combination featuring a quadrisect paying the 3 reales rate; no more than 25-30 such frankings are recorded, but mostly on piece. Cert. Mepsi (1994).
