1839 (March 29th) Folded cover sent from Buenos Aires, Argentina via Dublin to London, endorsed “p.Alpha via Liverpool“, showing clear crisp boxed red SHIP LETTER / DUBLIN on the reverse and a matching red London cds alongside, an important showpiece.

One of only two recorded examples of this contingency handstamp.

Note: Paying the triple rate “5/9”, 8d ship letter, 2d Dublin to Holyhead packet, 1d Menai Bridge plus 1s Holyhead to London, making 1/11 x 3 = 5/9.
