1669 (January 4th) Folded express letter sent from Albert Conyngham at Dublin via Strabane to Killybegs, Co.Donegal. Endorsed “For my much honoured cusine, Richard Murray of Broughton Esq. At Kilbogs and Mr. William Maxwell, postmr of Strabane is desired to send this byan expresse with care. And expedition Strabane”. Rated ‘4’ from Dublin to Strabane and carried privately on the last part of the journey to Killybegs, cvr with minor edge faults, an interesting item of historical importance.
Note: The content details Conyngham’s requirements for lands in and around Killybegs. Following the Plantation of Ulster, the lands around Killybegs were granted to Scottish planters and the Bishop of Raphoe. Murry of Broughton ceded part of his plantation to Albert Conygham in about 1670.
