Cover sent to Genoa redirected to Torino originating from Valparaiso, addressed to Federico Franzoy, Lieutenant of an infantry regiment stationed in Genoa, sent from the British Consulate at the port, with Valparaiso cds (British Post office mark in Valparaiso) to the reverse, “Panama Transit” two line hs in red to front, Calais French entry, a fine strike of the two line “Italia Stato Sardo” in blue-green (Italy Sardinian State), letter charged 23 lire payable by the recipient, London and Italian transits and arrival on back. A scarce transatlantic mail via Panama to Italy.
