1832 (Apr 27) Entire letter (Codrington correspondence) from John Winter in Barbuda, “pr Antaeus” and rated 1/6 (ship letter 8d inland 10d), boxed “INDIA LETTER/ PLYMOUTH” applied in error overstruck by way of correction by boxed “SHIP-LETTER/ PLYMOUTH” with a further strike also on the reverse, usual filing folds, the letter makes extensive reference to a three-month drought: “I have nothing favourable to communicate. I see nothing but misery staring us in the face it is impossible for Bbda. to be in a worse state from drouth… “, unsurprisingly the only known example of the “India Letter” applied to a letter from Barbuda.
