Description
1869 (July 20) Cover to Braila franked with a 2b orange, large four margins, very rare and spectacular variety “PCSTA”, tied by a time indicating T69 “Bucuresti” cds, arrival on reverse in blue dated 23/7, the cover being a folded printed matter article concerning a commercial signature specimen (thus the 2b franking being the correct rate for printed matter up to 15 grams), horizontal filing crease centrally not affecting stamp, attractive cover, very rare and fine, especially so given the size of the margins and the error in “POSTA”; this variety is only present on one position of the six different stones, almost certainly a unique variety on cover; cert. Heimbüchler (2007).Note: A cover showing a similar “FOSTA” variety was part of the “Cornelia” collection and was offered in 2007 for 5,000CHF.
