2d blue, position 4, close to large margins and neatly tied by circular “3” in bars and boxed ‘SOUILLAC/JU.27.1854’ ds alongside, on 1854 small neat folded entire Souillac to Port Louis, with ‘MAURITIUS/GPO’ crowned circle and boxed “INLAND” alongside, a very rare usage

Rate: 2d inland rate. This rate was for letters from rural post towns or villages to Port Louis, not exceeding 1/2 ounce, this rate remained in use and unchanged from the introduction of the Post Ordinance No. 8 of 1850
