Description

1895 Imperforate colour trials of the 20c and 2p values with HAND-PAINTED DUTY TABLETS, on gummed unwatermarked paper in brown-purple and slate respectively, showing red “G.N.” initials in manuscript in upper margin, trivial gum bends, very fine appearance, extremely important essays

Note: These colours were rejected by the Crown gents, although De La Rue protested that they had been chosen by the Gibraltar authorities (see Easton pp.542-543)
