Description

1788 (15.12) Folded entire datelined “Birmingham, Dec. 15, 1788” addressed to Mr. Henry Rose of Great Markham in Nottinghamshire, bearing 2-line “BIRMING/HAM” hs in black, a fine and scarce strike, interesting and fascinating content

Note: Letter refers to the short fall in crops due to prolonged dry weather at Carlton, plus loosing several negros and stock and resultant problems. Also advises Mr. Rose that the passage for his son’s trip to Jamaica will cost £60 including bedding and the provision of a horse once arrived
