Description

1857-59 Post Paid 1d. red-brown on grayish, horizontal pair, position 5-6, large even margins all around, pre-printing wrinkles at base, cancelled by ’16’ numeral circular hs on back of folded cover to Port Louis, front showing octagonal ‘EASTERN SUBURB/FE4 1858’ and crown ‘MAURITIUS/GPO’ ds, stains also affecting the franking which is affixed to cover with hinge after having been lifted for examination, one of four covers recorded originating from this village
