1857-59 Post Paid 1d red on greyish, vertical strip of four, positions 1/4/7/10, complete to mainly wide margins except in top left corner, tied by oval bars cancels on folded cover from Port Louis to Bordeaux, with up to 7 1/2 grams ‘8’ charge in France and red French entry cds alongside, various cds’s on back including ‘G.P.O./DE9 1859/MAURITIUS’, transits and arrival in France, the top adhesive with corner fault and horizontal cover crease, still though an attractive and rare usage Provenance: Dale-Lichtenstein, Vikram Chand
