1874 (12.4) Folded entire from Alexandria to London, franked with British 3d and 6d stamps and evidently intended for the British Post Office, probably the letter was too late for the British Steamer and therefore the letter was handed over to the Italian Post Office, which accepted the letter, tied and cancelled the British stamps with the Italian numeral cachet “234” in dots, applied alongside cds POSTE ITALIANE/ALESSANDRIA D’EGITTO 12 APR. 74, and forwarded the letter by an Italian ship to Europe, backstamped Brindisi 15 Apr.74 and London Apr. 24, cover creases, a unique usage
