1863 (12.5) Entire letter to Lombardy franked Sardinia 1855-63 10c. bistre-yellow, 10c. bistre-brown and 40c. rose-carmine with blue “ALESSANDRIA D’EGITTO/POST ITALIANE” with hour, year inverted (Sassone 1) cancellation and with the extremely rare framed “PIROSCAFI / POSTALI / INGLESI” alongside, transit and arrival markings on reverse, a great rarity full of character; cert. Silvano Sorani (1985), Enzo Diena (1989).Note: This Alessandria datestamp was only in use between March and June 1863. The contents of the entire letter relate to Saint Sepulcre’s cult and his religious life in Jerusalem, from where this letter originated.
