1872 (24.3) Envelope sent from Suez to Greece via the Greek Post Office in Alexandria, bearing Egypt 3rd Issue 1872 20 pa blue block of 6, tied by V.R. POSTE EGIZIANE / SUEZ circular datestamp (Smith type III-2), with Alexandria circular datestamp on reverse, then sent via the Greek Post Office with corresponding Alexandria circular datestamp on reverse and manuscript “80” in blue and franked on arrival with 80 lep red tied by Athens, opened out for display, some minor faults, unique triple weight cover with combination of Egyptian and Greek Post Offices
Note: This cover weighed 30 gms., hence it was franked with 3 pi “20 para stamps” + 80 lep. It was treated as triple weight by the Egyptian P.O. in Suez, domestic rate for Suez – Alexandria was 1 pi/10 gms tied by V.R.POSTE EGIZIANE / SUEZ circular datestamp, dated 24.3.1872, and postage due as a double weight only by the Greek Post Office on arrival, the normal rate to Athens was 40 lep/15 gms, tied by the Greek circular datestamp Kerkyra 16.3.1872, with Alexandria transit circular datestamp and Athens arrival on 22.3.1872
