Description
1855-63 4d deep blue, three singles and 1d rose, all with good to large margins, neatly tied on 1860 small neat envelope from Grahams Town, via Cape Town to Montreal, Canada, by two strikes of the clear “CGH” triangular cancel.
A superb and rare usage from the Shanly correspondence, a colourful showpiece, cert. BPA (1997)
Note: Walter Shanly was a famous Irish civil engineer, author, businessman, and politician, whose family emigrated to Canada in 1836.
