1747 Entire from a Greek-Cypriot merchant in Nicosia to the Ragusa Consul in Larnaca, fine and scarce, ex “Zephyr” (DF Nov 2003)
Note: No organised internal mail system existed during the period of Ottoman occupation. Most correspondence in existence today is of letters between branches of the Administration, which must have been carried by a system of Government couriers, or to and from Orthodox Church dignitaries and the authorities.
