1843 (Aug 31) Envelope from Nottingham to London with 1841 1d red pl.35 FL cancelled by DARK GREEN MALTESE CROSS, fine to good margins, matching despatch backstamp and arrival cds on backflap opened out for display, fine and exceedingly rare coloured Maltese Cross for the specialist (SG £40’000)
Literature: Recorded in Rockoff & Jackson’s “The Maltese Cross”, which records only 10 such covers, of which it is believed just 2 bear certificates
