Uprated Mulready to India
1840 (Sep 30) 2d Mulready envelope, stereo a209, sent from Bristol to India and uprated with five 1840 2d blue (strip of 2 and vertical pair) all with fine to large margins, tied by red MCs, reverse with Bristol, Bombay, Agra and Cawnpore ds, slightly soiled, highly attractive and rare franking
Just over 50 Mulreadies sent abroad are recorded with only a dozen uprated with 1840 1d blacks or 2d blues
A Line Engraved and Mulready rarity which has graced some of the finest collections
