1859 Cover from New York to New Ross, IRELAND, franked by pair and two single 1857 12c Black (plate 1) tied by red grills, sent via Boston and the Cunard packet “America,” and showing “38 / New York Br. Pkt.” cds, arrived too late for sorting in Liverpool so bagged direct to Dublin and struck by the very elusive “AMERICA / DUBLIN / PAID” cds. Backstamped at New Ross on reverse. The double weight letter rate was comprised of 10c for the USA portion and 38c credited to the UK = 32c packet fee + 6c domestic postage.
