Description
1858-1967, A TRULY AWE INSPIRING specialised collection in five specially made and professionally written-up albums. This collection presents a mind-numbing display of scarce and rare stamps with virtual completion from start to finish, nearly all with parallel coverage of both mint and used, excellent covers sprinkled throughout from first issues on, including a substantial section of Zeppelin and Condor flight covers. Another stunning group are the myriad of proofs, essays, trial colours, specimens, “prepared but unissued” items, and a selection of modern imperforate as well with substantial value. It should be noted that while many of the earlier plate proofs are relatively common, this collection has many scarcer varieties and die-proofs that are not at all so common. We note covers SC no.2 ($700), no.7Cd extremely fine ($1’500), no.7F ($1’500), no.33 ($500), better earlier mint no.8 ($2’000), used no.16 with certs ($3’000), mint 392, C20-9, seldom seen “Arc en Ciel” airmail overprints.
Instead of embarking on an endless list of the highlights here, a thorough inspection of the collection and/or the scans are highly recommended and should allow one to come well-armed to the bidding which should be spirited on this magnificent collection (Est. € 8’000/12’000) Auction
