1889 (Aug 21) Sultan Khalifa-bin-Said’s personal stationery envelope sent registered to George Mackenzie, Partner & Director of the Imperial British East Africa Company (IBEA) in London (receiving oval date-stamp 20 September) via Aden (7 September), bearing 11a franking of 1882-90 8a & 3a each tied with type 6 date-stamp, a 20mm circle, “ZANZIBAR” in arc at top & “REG” above date. Envelope is addressed both in Arabic & English and displays the Sultan’s cartouche on reverse flap. Minor envelope damage at lower right. Remarkable and highly attractive postal history item. Auction
