LETTER FROM THE SULTAN TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES
1889 (May 4) Personal stationery envelope from Sultan Khalifa-bin-Said with exquisite enclosure both written in Arabic sent to President Benjamin Harrison of the United States and having been carried privately. The enclosure is a letter of recommendation from the Sultan commending a United States ship captain who had recently visited Zanzibar. Envelope has faults at upper left.
