Description
1d Second Retouch, four examples tied to Nov. 1862 cplt. folded letter by three strikes of Tacna cds, sent to Cochabamba, BOLIVIA. The franking was to pay a double rate (1/2 – 1 onza), but it was charged in Bolivia “6 1/2” (reales) by ms, indicating a weight over 1 onza, with ms “1 1/4” at far left perhaps indicative of the weight. Endorsed that it was accompanied by two newspapers (free from postage). Slightly mixed margins, an important franking, fresh and fine Catalogue ref: 9 var.
