1r “Chrome Yellow” (per consignor), 3rd printing tied by Quito cds (17 JULIO 69) to cover to Paris, FRANCE, long considered one of the few (if not the only) First Issue covers carried by French and British ships to Europe. Carried by coach to Guayaquil where struck (on back) with British P.O. “A” cds (JY25 / 1869), with British “PANAMA / 29JY 1869 / TRANSIT” ds, carried by French packet “Panama” (octagonal Panama / Paq. Fr. A N° 1 / 1 Aout 69 ds), tampon “24” (decimes charged for sea and internal postage and having Paris bs (24 Aout 69).
