1873 (Nov 6) Cover to England with two 1872 2pi perf.13 1/2 and 5pa tied by Cairo cds, paying the 4pi 5pa rate to the UK, with Egyptian and British Alexandria bs, very fine.
Note: A Postal Convention between Egypt and the UK allowed mail between the countries to be franked to the destination in the country of origin. This convention came into force on 1st July 1873 and lasted until the UPU began to function on 1st July 1875. Catalogue ref: D18e
