Description
1929 (July 13) Trans-Atlantic Flight by French pilots Assollant, Lefèbvre and Lotti, personal souvenir cover with USA and French label franking with each stamp cancelled by autograph of one of the pilots, the reverse shows a long ms account of their achievement. The plane reached Comillas, Spain on the 14th and left there on the 16th, reaching Bourget Field in Paris after stops at Mimizan and Cazeaux. Although 113 items were carried, this personal souvenir is thought to be extremely rare, and is a very fine showpiece (despite minimal perf toning) of the continued attempts to make progress across “the pond.” (Mü. 278, 17’500pts) Auction
